Agrocaribe
Agrocaribe is the first oil palm company in Central America and the fourth in the world to obtain RSPO certification "preserved identity", that is, it guarantees all traceability from planting to shipping.
The commitment of Agrocaribe has always gone beyond complying with national laws, which is why in 2010 they became the first oil palm company in the world to obtain Rainforest Alliance certification, for being responsible with the environment and communities, and in 2011, the first palm oil company in the world to obtain the secure trade certification, Business Alliance for Secure Commerce -BASC-.
They implement social responsibility programs for the benefit of their employees, their families and the communities in which they operate. Every day they strive to use best agricultural and industrial practices and to maintain international standards of sustainability.
History
In 1997, Corporación Agroindustrial del Caribe, S.A was born with a project of 1,500 ha, which began to develop oil palm nurseries, thus achieving the first estate in 1999 with 150 employees. The palm projects were growing, reaching up to 5,000 ha planted, then began a project for the construction of an extraction plant, obtaining the first customer in 2003. Subsequently began with the generation of energy from the capture of biogas that includes the sale of carbon bonds to the international market.
In 2005 Agrocaribe managed to position itself as one of the largest producers of sustainable palm oil in the region.
